Biñan—The city government here has staged a drill to arrest the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with Mayor Arman Dimaguila leading the way.
The drill was staged “so that every citizen knows what to do in the event of a deadly COVID-19 exposure,” said Dimaguila, who was supported by City Council members, City Health Office, Association of Barangay Chairmen, the City Disaster Office, Barangay Emergency Response Teams and other personalities.
The drill was held at Sitio Pag Asa (Camcam) in Barangay Canlalay, simulating a person suspected of being infected by the virus as a Person Under Investigation and health workers donning Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) in full force or function in their response.
They would take the COVID-19 PUI to the Biñan Hospital for checking and specimen extraction, then the person will be taken to the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City.
Dimaguila warned residents not to share false or fake news related to COVID-19 “Because it does not help the current situation in our country.”
“The aim of this training is to provide our citizens with the right information and methods in the event of an unexpected outbreak or spread of the said coronavirus in our community,” the mayor said.
Dimaguila said the patient’s identity will be announced so that persons who encounter the PUI will immediately go for a checkup.
“Do not panic because your government is ready for any eventuality,” Dimaguila said.
In related news, Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas announced that the city has one positive case of COVID-19 and is being monitored at a local hospital.
The City Government is also in the process of contact-tracing the people in touch with the patient, Arcillas said.
“You can expect your servant to do everything to ensure the safety of the people of the City of Santa Rosa,” the mayor said.
Everyone is encouraged to be calm and follow all health protocols, Arcillas added.
“You may also to contact the City Government in case of symptoms of COVID-19,” she said.
