Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy took television and the online world by storm when he won Pilipinas Got Talent season 2 in 2011.
Now, only a decade later, the incredible “dual vocalist,” who can flawlessly shift between tenor and soprano, has once again stunned the viewers of the popular talent show.
In the spin-off of the US hit talent program, America’s Got Talent: The Champions, the 35-year-old singer placed third runner up.
During the final announcement, Pomoy was left speechless so host Terry Crews had to call on his wife, Joan, to the stage to speak on his behalf.
“He just wanted to say ‘thank you, thank you so much to everybody.’ This is a big, big opportunity for him. That’s all. Thank you so much,” told the audience.
Judge Heidi Klum had some positive parting words for the Filipino singer, who has previously performed Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson’s version of “Beauty and the Beast” during the show’s grand finals, which aired the last week.
“Marcelito, I love you so much. You have the most beautiful voice. Actually…the most beautiful voices inside of you,” she said in jest.
“You are a champion. And thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us,” Klum added.
Pomoy became officially part of the show when he opened the eyes (and ears) of US viewers and AGT judges to a whole new way of singing when his audition aired on the show early this year.
Pomoy delivered a firecracker opening performance for singing two different parts of “The Prayer,” with each one of them sounding like two distinct voices.
His rendition of Andrea Bocelli’s famed “Con Te Partiro,” otherwise known as “Time to Say Goodbye,” earned him a standing ovation from the judges and made him become a strong contender in the show.
