Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who is facing a sedition case, on Tuesday posted a P10,000-bail at the Metropolitan Trial Court in Quezon City.

Trillanes and 10 others have been charged by the Justice department  for allegedly conspiring to “spread allegations that President Duterte and his family were involved in the illegal drug trade.”

Trillanes, a prominent administration critic, returned from abroad on Tuesday morning and went to the court to post bail.

He and the other defendants were ordered arrested last week.

Trillanes and the other defendants are accused of conspiring to spread “malicious” allegations against President Rodrigo Duterte and his family “with no other purpose but to inflict an act of hate or revenge” against them.

The others charged in the case are Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy, former police official Eduardo Acierto, Jonnel Sangalang, Yolanda Ong, Fr. Flaviano Villanueva, Fr. Albert Alejo, Vicente Romano III, Joel Saracho, Boom Enriquez and one alias “Monique.”

They face two to four years in prison if convicted.

Trillanes faces two inciting to sedition cases before the Pasay courts over his statements against President Duterte.

He also faces a revived rebellion case before the Regional Trial Court in Makati.
