The Local Water Utilities Administration recently signed a P189-million financial assistance contract with the Santa Maria Water District (SMWD) in Bulacan for its expansion projects—which will include an 8.5-km stretch of new pipelines.

This will cover 24 barangays and benefit more than 3,000 households. The amount was sourced from the Asian Development Bank water development funds and to be paid back in the course of 15 years.
Among those who inked the deal were LWUA Acting Administrator Jeci Lapus (seated, center) and SMWD General Manager Carlos Santos Jr.
