Malaysian painter and teacher Mee Lee Casey is once again holding classes on porcelain plate painting at Sunshine Place senior recreation center.
After the first batch, whose lessons end today, Jan. 25, the second batch of students is scheduled on Jan. 28, 30, Feb 1. Batch 3 is on Feb. 4, 6, 7; Batch 4 on Feb. 11 and 14; Batch 5 on Feb. 17, 21, 25; Batch 6 on March 16, 19, 21; and Batch 7 on March 24, 26, 30.
During the class, which begins at 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., students learn the basics in porcelain painting from transferring an image on a plate and painting on it with porcelain paint, to heating the image in a kiln until the desired result is achieved.
Porcelain painted plates are popular as home décor or gifts, and can be used in serving cold food.
Meanwhile, visual artist and Art Association of the Philippines president Fidel Sarmiento will hold a Saturday workshop on Fundamentals of Drawing from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29, and March 7 and 14.
The six-session workshop will tackle lines, shapes, tonal values, 3D shapes drawing, still life drawing, landscape, and portraiture.
