Santiago City”•Citicore, a renewable energy company, has joined other private firms in providing relief assistance to the victims of Taal Volcano’s recent eruption in Batangas Province.
In cooperation with the firm’s foundation, Citicore Foundation has mobilized employees to volunteer in the distribution of Malasakit Packs composed of approximately 5,000 bottled drinking water, 500 cup noodles, 1,000 assorted clothes and undergarments, 100 mats and 150 blankets.
The relief packs were distributed to volcano evacuees sheltering in emergency centers in the towns of Alitagtag, Balayan, and Tuy in Batangas.
Citicore and its foundation continuously to coordinate with other concerned local government units in order to extend more relief assistance to other affected areas.
“Our teams are also helping in assessing immediate needs of the affected residents,” said Oliver Tan, Citicore President.
Local government units in and outside of Batangas Province have been seeking donations for the affected communities since Jan. 13.
Tan added: “Citicore would like to extend whatever help we can to the affected residents especially to senior citizens as they are the once most vulnerable to respiratory diseases brought about by the ash fall.”
Taal Volcano spewed lava fountains and triggered ashfall that spread not just in Batangas but also to other parts of the Calabarzon region, as well as to Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
Citicore has over 160 megawatts of existing RE capacity from its eight solar power plants all over the Philippines while having sustainable woody biomass production in Negros Occidental and bulk water supply ventures in unserved and underserved areas in the country.
Citicore Foundation is the social responsibility arm of Citicore and committed in delivering community development programs based on three Pillars: Capacity Development, Environment, and Community Partnership.
