The people of Quirino, led by its Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, conveyed its desire to extend whatever support and assistance needed to help Batangas and its neighboring provinces, as the Taal Volcano roared back to life last weekend.
Cua joined the rest of the nation in standing united with Batangas, which is bracing itself for more adversity.
Quirino is ready to dispatch its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Provincial Social Welfare Development Office to help the disaster-hit areas evacuate their residents, Cua said.
As President of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines and National Chairperson of the League of Provinces, the governor urged other local government units to come in and aid Batangas, as the resilience its people is put to the test.
“This disaster is not the concern of Batangas Province alone, but of the whole nation,” Cua said.
The Province of Quirino is the 2019 Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing Ang Kaligtasan) National Awardee.
It gained this distinction because of its preparedness for natural calamities and outstanding contribution to disaster risk reduction and management and humanitarian assistance.
Relief goods from the province of Quirino are on their way, as an expression of “pagmamalasakit at pagmamahal sa kapwa,” an innate attitude of Quirinians, Cua said.
