A local footwear brand steps in the pages of fashion magazine British Vogue in January.
Quezon City-based Annie & Lori is the only Filipino label in the magazine’s Designer Profile section, which pays tribute to up and coming fashion brands.
British Vogue highlights Annie & Lori’s designs inspired by the Filipino culture and heritage. On spotlight are the brand’s modern update of the bakya or wooden clogs, and mules that use unique indigenous textiles.
“We were extremely excited when British Vogue contacted us a couple of months ago to say they would like to feature Annie & Lori,” shares Faith Mijares. “It’s a dream come true and this will definitely inspire us to continue creating more beautiful sandals for the Filipina and for more women in other parts of the world.”
Annie & Lori’s pure leather sandals enjoy a steady following in Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Some of the personalities who have worn the brand include international model Kelsey Merritt, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza, Singaporean fashion blogger Jessica Tham, and Indonesia’s Eliza Zachandra, among many others.
According to the brand, it is expanding to Australia and New Zealand.
