The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI), and P&A Foundation Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to launch the 26th Search for the Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines (SOASP) on October 8, 2024.
PIPCA national president Roland C. Pondoc, ACPACI national president Elano C. Marcelo, P&A Grant Thornton chairman and chairperson of P&A Foundation Romualdo V. Murcia III, P&A vice chairman and deputy managing partner Olivier D. Aznar, as well as ACPACI-SOASP chair Marc John M. Guiab signed the MOA.
Aznar emphasized the organization’s response to last year’s feedback, which included doubling the budget and incorporating technology to engage students and schools.
The annual competition serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate the achievements of graduating accounting students from across the Philippines.
This year’s SOASP promises to be more significant than ever, with an increased budget and a strong commitment to enhancing the competition experience.
Moving away from traditional methods, the 26th SOASP will utilize digital tablets to streamline the process and improve participant experience.
Murcia expressed optimism that these upgrades will make this year’s competition the most successful and rewarding yet for participants and their mentors.
Scheduled for March 2025 at the Makati Diamond Hotel, the 26th SOASP will showcase the nation’s top accounting talent while promoting core values such as integrity, responsibility, and transparency essential for the profession’s future.
