CAAP to deploy stricter security measures for Undas 2024

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) implemented enhanced security measures at 44 airports nationwide to ensure passenger safety during the ‘Undas’ holiday travel period.

Last year, CAAP recorded 2.1 million passengers traveling from October to November, an increase from 1.9 million during the same period in 2022. This year, CAAP anticipates an additional 7-10% rise in passenger movement.

In response to this expected surge, the agency has engaged all service chiefs and airport managers to ensure around-the-clock operations, providing additional support for travelers.

“The safety and security of our passengers are our top priorities as we approach Undas 2024. We have implemented a ‘no-leave policy’ for our staff to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and comfort throughout this busy travel period,” stated CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

Furthermore, Malasakit Help Desks have been established at the airports, security personnel are present, and medical teams are on standby for emergencies.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, passengers are urged to comply with regulations by avoiding restricted items and keeping their baggage attended to at all times.

Making bomb jokes is strictly prohibited, as such actions can lead to significant flight disruptions and serious legal consequences.

CAAP, in coordination with the Department of Transportation and local authorities—including the PNP-Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU), the Office of Transportation Security (OTS), the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), and various airlines—will collaborate to ensure efficient processing of passengers, particularly at check-in counters.

Passengers are encouraged to prepare for their travels in advance and coordinate with their airlines before heading to the airport. Arriving at least three hours prior to their flight will help ensure a smooth and efficient travel experience during the upcoming holiday rush.
