NCCT marks 27 years, launches media framework

The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) held a press conference at Heritage Hotel Manila on October 18, 2024, to unveil its Comprehensive Media Program for Children (CMPC), coinciding with its 27th founding anniversary.

Executive Director Daisy Atienza emphasized that the CMPC is not just a program but a guiding framework that will influence NCCT’s future plans in alignment with Ambisyon Natin 2040, ensuring a media environment fostering critical thinking, positive values, and national pride for children.

As the NCCT aligns with AMBISYON NATIN 2040, it ensures that every child will grow up in a media environment that will nurture critical thinking, positive values, and a sense of national pride.

For more than 20 years, the NCCT has been a partner agency of the Department of Education, wherein they have championed child-friendly here in our country, making sure that all Filipino children will have high-quality content that will help the children’s development.

Their program is a vital achievement as it aligns with its mandate under R.A. 8370 to promote child-friendly television and media programming that fosters the moral values and national identity of Filipino children.

With this, the NCCT’s CMPC structured three pillars, such as the PAGTATAG (Strengthening), PAGLAGANAP (Expansion), and PAGTAGUYOD (Advocacy).

These three pillars of CMPC are supported by their eight strategic objectives, which serve also as a model for government and non-government agencies in creating policies and projects related to children and media.

As part of their 27th anniversary, they also launched their new Children’s Television and Child-Friendly Television programs. Along with this, the NCCT did recognize every broadcast television network for being their compliant. Calling upon content creators, media platforms, educators, and policymakers, the agency urged these stakholders to incorporate their frameworks to guarantee a unified approach to address the needs and welfare of every Filipino child.
