Libingan ng mga Bayani secured for Undas — Army

The Philippine Army on Tuesday said security protocols are already in place at the Libingan ng mga Bayani for Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day).

“In preparation for our celebration and commemoration of Undas, as the Philippine Army does every year, our security protocols have been established to maintain orderliness… So we didn’t make any additional security preparation,” Philippine Army spokesperson Colonel Louie Dema-ala said in a mix of English and Filipino.

He was also asked in a press briefing about Vice President Sara Duterte’s remarks about digging up the remains of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos and throwing them into the West Philippine Sea.

However, he refused to comment since “that is a political statement.”

According to the spokesperson, the Libingan ng mga Bayani remains “very safe” from people who may intrude or desecrate its tombs.

In an ambush interview, Dema-ala added that digging up any remains at the site will only be allowed upon the request of immediate families.

He also assured stakeholders that the security team of the said cemetery is guarding troops, heroes, and other national personalities buried there.
