Typhoon “Julian” (international name: Krathon) is moving away from Batanes toward the northwestern boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), according to the 5 p.m. bulletin of PAGASA on Monday.
Its center was last estimated 95 kilometers west-southwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

Moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), Julian has maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gusts up to 215 kph.
The typhoon is forecast to intensify and could reach super typhoon status by Monday evening.
Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 4 remains hoisted over Batanes, which means intense wind speeds expected to cause considerable to very heavy damage.
