Berde Renewables solidified its commitment to expanding sustainable energy solutions in the Philippines through a strategic partnership with Northern Luzon retail giant Magic Group of Companies.
The collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing renewable energy adoption in the region, beginning with the installation of a 729-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar power system at Magic Mall San Carlos.
The solar power purchase agreement (PPA) between the two companies is expected to be completed in 12 months.
The installation is projected to generate 983,690 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, translating into a reduction of 860 tons of carbon emissions over the next decade.
Patrick Zhu, Berde Renewables chief executive, emphasized the importance of the partnership.
“This collaboration with Magic Group of Companies is aligned with our mission to bring sustainable energy to more businesses across the Philippines. The solar project at Magic Mall San Carlos demonstrates how renewable energy can be seamlessly integrated into commercial operations, benefiting both the environment and the bottom line,” Zhu said.
Berde Renewables is an I Squared Capital portfolio company dedicated to the Philippines’ energy transition. They develop, build and operate distributed renewable energy projects that empower commercial and industrial customers to switch to sustainable power, significantly reducing their electricity costs.
Magic Group of Companies said the partnership underscores their commitment to sustainability.

Beyond optimizing energy costs, this project reflects our long-term commitment to minimizing our environmental impact. We aim to replicate this success in our upcoming mall branches as part of our broader sustainability strategy,” Magic Group CEO’s executive assistant Jarvin Chua said.
The Magic Group is a family-run enterprise that has been operating in Northern Luzon since 1988. The company primarily engages in the real estate and restaurant sectors. It manages a portfolio that includes shopping malls, supermarkets, appliance stores and food outlets.
