The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved the proposed P793.1-billion budget of the Department of Education (DepEd) and its attached agencies for Fiscal Year 2025 during the plenary deliberations at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
The Education Department thanked Speaker Martin Romualdez, its budget sponsor, Davao de Oro Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora, and the members of the House of Representatives in their statement.
DepEd said its projects will align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision. The department’s budget next year includes the construction of new classrooms and the rehabilitation of school buildings, a computerization program, learning and equipment tools, additional teaching positions, teacher training, a. school-based feeding program, government assistance, and subsidies, among others.
Meanwhile, during interpellations on the proposed 2025 DepEd budget, ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro thanked Angara and the Education Department for recent memos they passed benefitting public school teachers.
“Thank you, Secretary Angara, for the released memos: flexible time for subjects in the Matatag Curriculum, and the other memo that added service credits from 15 to 30 days of service credits for our teachers,” Castro said in a mix of English and Filipino.
