Nothing climactic

"Leni Robredo fell short again."

Just as she failed to contribute anything significant when she assumed the post of co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs, Leni Robredo fell short again of her promise to offer something helpful in her “report” on the state of the nation’s anti-drugs drive.

The de facto vice president’s SONATA proved to be just a waste of time and nothing but a miserable litany of allegations on summary killings of street drug pushers by policemen and the authorities’ failure to go after big-time drug lords and cut illegal drugs supply.

The small-time street shabu peddlers that she belittles are the ones that prey on fifth and sixth graders and high schoolers, and used to openly hold pot sessions in “shabu tiangge” in the neighborhood in complicit with barangay officials. At least 22,000 of 42,000 barangays affected by drugs have been cleared, and only over 200 remain seriously affected.

To get in touch with reality, Manay Leni might as well visit Ozamiz City which has been liberated from the tyranny of a drugs clan that finally met its bloody end in this government’s no-nonsense war versus drug menace. Hundreds of high-profile drug traffickers with international connection have met the same fate.

One by one, she should dig deeper into the criminal records of drug suspects killed in encounters. She would rather have drug dealers and recidivist drug addicts billeted in rehabilitation centers at the expense of the public aggravated by drug-related crimes.

Former PNP chief and now Senator Ronaldo Bato dela Rosa’s Oplan Tokhang and Oplan Double-Barrel significantly curbed the widespread street drugs peddling by street toughies.

She simply did not make any sense at all and tends to undermine the intelligence of the Filipino people who now enjoy a much-improved peace and order situation with the lowest criminal incidence ever.

She should consider what the Duterte administration accomplished through the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority and the Philippine National Police in three years compared to what the previous five administrations combined in terms of anti-drugs operations and shabu and other illegal drugs seized.

When Manay Leni said illegal drugs confiscated represent only 1 percent of the whole country’s supply, she may be referring to the accomplishment of her cohorts in the previous administration during which shabu trafficking flourished and used even in the Palace. Only during this administration's first three years have the authorities confiscated billions and billions peso worth of drug contraband.

Countless times over the years I have joined PDEA agents in buy-bust and drug raids for a reality TV show  back then over at TV5 in which we witnessed the extreme difficulties and danger that anti-drug operatives encounter.

Manay Leni totally has no idea about covert drug operations. How dare she belittle PDEA and PNP's efforts. Such hypocrisy!

It is clear that she merely fulfilled what she had intended to do in accepting President Duterte’s generous offer to designate her ICAD co-chair. With the Yellow media always in tow, she was out to discredit and not to help in the government’s drugs war and sought to validate all the fake news she had been peddling.

In her so-called Report, Manay Leni has shamelessly showcased her expertise in exacerbating falsehood, only to fail to deliver results.

I rest my case.
