GMA Network has cemented its position as a digital leader in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, driven by its performance across multiple online platforms.
As of August 2024, GMA ranked 20th on the Tubular Worldwide Leaderboard for Media and Entertainment Properties, making it the top-ranked media company in Southeast Asia, surpassing ABS-CBN, which ranked 24th.
The network garnered 3.63 billion video views on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube in August, outpacing ABS-CBN’s 3.29 billion. Year-to-date data through Aug. 31 showed GMA amassed 27.76 billion video views, compared to ABS-CBN’s 23.73 billion.
GMA’s online platforms have shown notable growth. By early September, GMA News had garnered over 1.13 billion views on YouTube, while GMA Public Affairs reached 1.61 billion views, also leading in social media engagement. GMA Public Affairs ranked third globally in the news and politics category on YouTube and Facebook, recording 2.68 billion Facebook views, a 77 percent increase year-on-year.
The rise in digital performance was fueled by popular content from GMA’s top-rated programs, including comprehensive coverage of major events like the GMA Gala 2024 and significant weather events. GMA Public Affairs’ properties recorded 8.3 billion total views across Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok from January to August 2024.
In comparison, GMA Entertainment pages outperformed ABS-CBN Entertainment, garnering 5.28 billion views on Facebook, surpassing its rival by 1.79 billion views.
GMA News Online also saw a 67.7 percent increase in users from June to September 2024, with page views rising 62.5 percent to 78.9 million. GMANetwork.com maintained its position as the most visited local website, according to data from Similar Web.
GMA’s digital growth highlights its strong foothold in the evolving media landscape, as it continues to deliver credible news and engaging entertainment across digital platforms.
