The Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals claimed a landmark victory over the defending champions, San Beda Red Lions, with a commanding 68-55 win at the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
This historic triumph marked the Generals’ first-ever win against San Beda after 27 consecutive losses, dating back to when EAC joined the NCAA in 2009. Key to the upset were standout performances from Harvey Pagsanjan and JC Luciano, who led the Generals in both scoring and rebounds.
Pagsanjan posted a game-high 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Luciano added 13 points and eight boards. Luciano also showcased his shooting efficiency, going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. The Generals knocked down 13 of their 37 three-point attempts, which proved to be a decisive factor in their victory.
