President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday honored Filipino athletes returning from the 2024 Paris Paralympics during a ceremony at Malacañan Palace.
First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and presidential sons, Vincent and Simon, also attended the meet-and-greet ceremony with the President.
Recognized athletes included para-swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom, para-athletes Cendy Asusano and Jerrold Mangliwan, para-archer Agustina Bantiloc, and para-taekwondo athlete Allain Ganapin.
Each received P1 million and a presidential citation, presented by Mr. Marcos alongside Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Philippine Paralympic Committee President Michael Barredo.
The 2024 Paralympic Games took place in Paris from August 28 to September 8, featuring over 4,000 athletes from 168 countries.
