Senate President Francis Escudero has said it is no longer important if Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy surrendered or was arrested by authorities last Sunday in Davao City.
“It is enough for me, whatever their bickering, the rift, to whom he surrendered, that he is now under custody,” Escudero said.
After 17 days of stakeout at the KOJC compound, the manhunt for the fugitive pastor ended. The Senate President has since told the alleged trafficker that he now has the opportunity to answer the charges filed against him.
A Pasig court issued two arrest warrants for qualified trafficking against Quiboloy. He also has a warrant of arrest for contempt charges in the Senate for repeatedly refusing to attend the upper chamber’s investigations on charges filed against him by KOJC members.
On Quiboloy’s possible appearance in the Senate to testify on the accusations imputed to him, Escudero said they will stil coordinate with the Pasig court and the House of Representatives where he has arrest warrants.
According to the Senate leader, he still cannot say if they will reinforce their security when Quiboloy goes to the Senate.
During the previous hearings of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, KOJC members staged a protest action outside the Senate premises to oppose the probe on their leader.
