President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. welcomed the improved performance and trust ratings he received from the 2nd quarter OCTA Research “Tugon ng Masa” survey. octa
In an interview, President Marcos expressed gratitude for the public’s growing trust and noted that people are beginning to see the effects of the government’s initiatives.
“It’s good to have that kind of trust and those statistics behind you,” the President said.
“People are starting to understand what we are trying to do, and they’re feeling the results,” he added.
The latest OCTA Research survey showed that 71% of adult Filipinos trust President Marcos, up from 69% in the first quarter.
In contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating dropped to 65% from 68%, continuing a downward trend.
Mr. Marcos also saw a 3% increase in his performance rating, now at 68%. VP Sara’s performance rating fell to 60% from 64%.
“It must be noted that this is the second consecutive quarter that Duterte experienced a decline in her trust ratings, continuing the slide since the 4th quarter TNM survey conducted last December 2023,” OCTA said.
“It is also noted that this is the first time [Marcos] has registered a higher trust and performance rating than Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio based on TNM surveys in the last three years,” OCTA added.
The survey, conducted from June 30 to July 5, 2024, interviewed 1,200 respondents and has a ±3% margin of error.
The OCTA survey also showed House Speaker Martin Romualdez improving his trust rating, from 61 percent in March to 62 percent in the latest survey.
This was buoyed by a significant 9 percent increase in his ratings in Mindanao, from 42 percent to 51 percent during the same period.
The Speaker attributed his stable high trust ratings to the collective efforts of his colleagues in advancing legislation that directly benefits the Filipino people, emphasizing that these ratings reflect the House of Representatives’ commitment to its legislative responsibilities.
“We attribute these positive trust ratings to the collaborative efforts of the House in passing pro-people legislation and conducting thorough oversight functions to address critical national issues,” Romualdez said.
He also expressed his “sincerest gratitude” to the Filipino people for the continued rise in trust ratings, reaffirming his commitment to his mandate as Speaker and as a member of Congress.
“It affirms that we are on the right track and, more importantly, that our efforts to pass laws and initiatives that improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos are resonating with the public. We are grateful for this and our dedication remains to do more than what we have done in Congress),” the leader of the 308-strong House of Representatives said. With Vito Barcelo
