Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday attributed his stable high trust ratings in the recent OCTA Research survey to the collective efforts of his colleagues in advancing legislation that resonate with Filipinos, emphasizing the House of Representatives’ commitment to its responsibilities.
Romualdez noted that this achievement serves as a motivation for him and all House members to continue working towards legislation and programs that genuinely prioritize the welfare of the people.
“We attribute these positive trust ratings to the collaborative efforts of the House in passing pro-people legislation and conducting thorough oversight functions to address critical national issues,” Romualdez said.
He also expressed his “sincerest gratitude” to the Filipino people for the continued rise of his trust ratings, reaffirming his commitment to his mandate as Speaker and as a member of Congress.
“We are very grateful to the Filipino people for the trust they continue to place in our leadership in Congress. It is both humbling and inspiring for me. Your faith in our work in Congress is a constant reminder of the immense responsibility we carry in serving this nation,” Romualdez declared.
“It affirms that we are on the right track and, more importantly, that our efforts to pass laws and initiatives that improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos are resonating with the public. We are grateful for this and our dedication remains to do more than what we have done in Congress,” he said.
The second-quarter survey of OCTA Research held from June 30 to July 5 indicates that Romualdez’s trust rating increased from 61 percent in March to 62 percent in the latest survey, buoyed by a nine percent rise in his ratings in Mindanao, from 42 percent to 51 percent during the same period.
Romualdez added that his high trust ratings challenge him and House members to further push and craft more impactful legislation that benefits the people and addresses societal issues such as POGOs, illegal drugs, and extrajudicial killings.
“Whether in addressing economic challenges, enhancing public services, or securing the welfare of every Filipino, we will continue to work diligently to bring positive change to every corner of our nation,” he said.
“For my colleagues here in Congress, this is a victory for all of us). This reflects the hard work and dedication each of you puts into your role. Together, we will continue to foster an environment of collaboration and inclusivity, working not for personal gain but for the betterment of our country and the Filipino people,” the Speaker said.
