The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has signed an agreement with iAcademy to create murals showcasing iconic films from the Metro Manila Film Festival for its 50th anniversary this year.
Under the partnership, iAcademy students will create a nostalgic art display along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue by painting murals featuring MMFF film posters from the past 50 years.
MMDA chairman Don Artes thanked the iAcademy for its support of the agency, which will not just beautify the walls along EDSA through the students’ artwork but also help promote the MMFF 50th edition under the theme “Sine-Sigla sa Singkwenta.”
“We will make EDSA nostalgic through murals of hand-painted movie posters to celebrate the rich history of MMFF,” said Artes, citing that the agency is contacting hand-painted movie poster artists to collaborate with the iAcademy students.
One of the proposed locations for the murals is along EDSA, from Buendia Avenue to Ayala Avenue, which is approximately 653 meters long.
“The artworks of our students will showcase not only their skills but the Filipino life, community, and creativity,” said iAcademy chief operating officer Raquel Wong.
“We are excited to show that these artworks will inspire and remind everyone of the power of creative collaboration in shaping our urban environment.”
The MMDA has previously partnered with iAcademy and Boysen on a mural painting activity with the theme focused on road safety.
