The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday celebrated International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day, underscoring its commitment to upholding the principles of IHL.
The event was headlined with the recitation of the oath of commitment led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.
The event gathered top government officials, military officers, and representatives from various sectors, all coming together to reaffirm the nation’s dedication to the principles of IHL.
General Brawner Jr highlighted the AFP’s ongoing efforts to educate its ranks on the importance of IHL and the need to respect and protect human rights even in the most challenging situations.
“The oath we take today is not just a formality; it is a solemn pledge to uphold the values of humanity, even in the midst of conflict. The AFP remains steadfast in its commitment to international humanitarian law and to ensuring that our operations are always conducted within the bounds of these principles.”
