France now has the first men’s volleyball team to win consecutive Olympic gold medals since the United States in 1984 and 1988.
In front of a passionate home crowd, the French team secured their victory with a decisive 3-0 win over Poland at the Paris 2024 Games.
The match concluded with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-23, showcasing France’s dominance throughout the game.
“If the French fans weren’t here, we wouldn’t have reached the semifinals. I always say that Tokyo was huge, and somebody asked me how it could be better. I said ‘winning at home’. That is the only thing that could be better,” said Antoine Brizard, setter for the France national team and Gas Sales Piacenza.
The United States secured the bronze medal by defeating Italy 3-0 in a match held the previous day.
