Following his historic win on Sunday night, Aug. 4, where he secured his second gold medal, property developer Megaworld Corp. announced it will upgrade its reward for Olympian and Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo.
In a statement, Megaworld announced that it will honor Yulo with a three-bedroom unit in one of its top residential properties located in McKinley Hill. The company had previously stated that it would present Filipino gold medalists with a two-bedroom condominium unit valued at P24 million.
“Following the historic wins of two gold medals by Carlos Yulo in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Megaworld is upgrading its reward for the Filipino gymnast to a bigger three-bedroom unit in one of its premier residential properties inside the 50-hectare McKinley Hill, plus a special cash bonus because of his exceptional achievement,” the statement read.
Megaworld announced that it will also award Yulo a cash bonus of P3 million for being the first Filipino athlete to win two gold medals at the Olympics.
“Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports, with two gold Olympic medals during our 100th year of participation in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company’s 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo to a total of P35 million. He truly deserves this, and we will always be proud of him for taking Filipino excellence to the next level,” Megaworld president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said.
Yulo won the second medal after dominating the men’s vault final, scoring an average of 15.116 points and besting Armenia’s Artur Davtyan and Great Britain’s Harry Hepworth.
