First couple congratulates Yulo on historic back-to-back Olympic gold medals

President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos congratulated Filipino athlete Carlos “Caloy” Yulo after his historic back-to-back gold medal wins in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“No words can express how proud we are of you, Caloy!” President Marcos wrote on his official Facebook page.

“You have achieved GOLD for the Philippines not once, but twice!” he added.

Filipinos worldwide celebrated Yulo’s victory, standing united and cheering for the gymnast.

“We take pride in your shining success! We salute you!” he stated.

Meanwhile, First Lady Marcos shared her excitement after seeing Yulo secure his second gold medal for the Philippines.

“Woo hoo!! Watching you win that GOLD in REAL TIME for the second time was incredible! You’ve made your country proud GALING!!” she said with a Philippine flag emoji.

Yulo bagged the gold in the vault finals of men’s artistic gymnastics on Sunday evening after a dominating performance, which netted him a 15.116 for his two vaults in the finals.

The 24-year-old Filipino gymnast has brought home the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the men’s floor exercise final on Saturday night.

Yulo scored 15.000, which included 6.600 for difficulty and 8.400 for execution, with no penalties.
