WITH help from the Department of Agrarian Reform, nine farmers’ cooperatives in Camarines Sur have partnered with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to explore more market opportunities.
The agrarian reform beneficiary organizations included cooperatives and associations from the towns of Bombon, Tigaon, Pili, Ocampo and Naga City.
The partnership was forged through a memorandum of understanding and marketing agreement between the farmers’ groups and the 9th Infantry Division (ID) of the Philippine Army based in Pili to ensure a steady supply of fresh farm produce for the Army personnel while providing a reliable market for local farmers.
In a statement, 9th ID chief Maj. Gen. Adonis Bajao, said “we hope to support our farmers with sustainable programs like this while helping the government eliminate agrarian conflict in our communities.”
DAR regional director Reuben Theodore Sindac, cited “this harmonious collaboration fulfills our shared mission as public servants.”
The innovative partnership reflects DAR’s commitment to not only land distribution but also providing marketing support to enhance productivity and profitability for farmers.
