Malacañang on Tuesday declared the suspension of work in all government offices and classes on all levels in Metro Manila due to inclement weather.
Memorandum Circular No. 57, which Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed, suspended work and classes from 2 p.m. onward on Tuesday.
This follows the heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Carina.
However, the memorandum said that agencies with certain functions will continue with their operations and render the necessary services
Such agencies are those involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers.
