The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday expressed its gratitude to their commander-in-chief for its recognition of their efforts in safeguarding Philippine territory.
AFP on Sunday hoped for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to mention their efforts to bolster national security and defense initiatives in his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
“We are anticipating that he will give updates on ongoing initiatives on our current national priorities, and it is reasonable to anticipate many key themes, and we are anticipating that it includes efforts to bolster national security and enhance defense capabilities,” AFP spokesperson Colonel Margareth Padilla told Manila Standard.
Padilla also said that the President’s acknowledgement will serve as inspiration to all its personnel who she described “tirelessly serve to ensure the safety and sovereignty of our beloved country.”
“We take immense pride in the sacrifice and heroism of our AFP members who continue to guard our nation,” she continued.
AFP also added that the President’s recognition confirms that its efforts are noticed and boosts morale and dedication in fulfilling our duties.
“We will not be deterred in performing our mission to protect and uphold the sovereignty of our country. Your AFP will not yield nor waver!” Padilla ended.
