Internet search tops the list with 68 percent of respondents citing it as their main source of political news. Television follows closely at 66 percent, highlighting its enduring role in media consumption. Social media, primarily Facebook, emerges as a significant source, with 63 percent of respondents relying on it for daily updates.

The survey reveals a nuanced landscape in terms of trust in news outlets. GMA 7 leads among television news sources, with a notable increase in trust ratings from 47 percent to 53 percent this quarter. ABS-CBN Online and TV5/Interaksyon follow closely, each garnering substantial trust from the public.

Print and online news outlets also maintain strong credibility, with Philippine Daily Inquirer and Manila Bulletin tying as the most trusted at 45 percent. Philippine Star closely follows at 43 percent, reflecting a competitive environment in print journalism.

Radio, while less frequently used for daily news updates, remains moderately trusted by those who tune in. DZRH, Bombo Radyo and DZBB are identified as the top radio stations for news content, each receiving trust ratings around 33 percent to 34 percent.

The survey underscores the evolving media habits of Filipinos, with a clear preference for digital platforms complemented by trust in established traditional media outlets. As information consumption patterns continue to evolve, these findings provide valuable insights into how media organizations can effectively engage with their audiences.

PAHAYAG 2024 Second Quarter is an independent and non-commissioned survey. The survey period was from June 15 to 19, 2024 using purposive sampling composed of 1,507 respondents randomly drawn from the market research panel of over 200,000 registered Filipino voters maintained by the Singapore office of PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with multinational presence.
