THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) under by Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma has opened its doors for a dialogue with officers and members of the Kilos Manggagawa who aired their concerns on the process of filing notices of strike, preventive mediation and voluntary arbitration.
The July 11 meeting also tackled the exercise of freedom of association and other labor-related matters.
Secretary Laguesma was joined by Assistant Secretary Lennard Constantine Serrano, National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) executive director Maria Teresita Lacsamana-Cancio and deputy executive director for Technical Services Teresita Audea, as well as representatives from the Bureau of Labor Relations and Bureau of Working Conditions.
Laguesma said the DOLE will welcome a position paper from the group on possible solutions to their concerns, which will be given due consideration in line with the department’s continuing review of its policies, rules and procedures.
The DOLE chief also expressed openness for future dialogues with the labor group.
