The Navotas City government on Monday forged a partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) to address its concerns over solid waste management.
The tie-up involved thee deployment of the Aqua Trash Collector Bot (AQUABOT) developed by the TUP with DOST funding.
The AQUABOT a remote-controlled vessel designed for the efficient collection of solid waste in small bodies of water such as creeks and canals.
It can collect up to 20 kilos of garbage per hour, significantly boosting the city’s capacity to maintain its waterways.
Under the agreement, one AQUABOT unit will be stationed at Brgy. NBBS Dagat-dagatan.
At least 20 individuals will also receive specialized training to operate and maintain the AQUABOT effectively.
