How couple Megan Young and Mikael Daez build deeper connections through travel

Celebrity couple Megan Young and Mikael Daez love to travel a lot. They enjoy going on spontaneous adventures together and exploring new places around the world.

Travel has always been a big part of their relationship, creating unforgettable memories together. Even before they got married in 2020, their social media showed beautiful pictures from their trips. They visited tropical beaches and busy cities, experiencing different cultures and landscapes side by side. This shared love for exploring new places became very important to their relationship.

Since getting married, their passion for travel has only grown stronger. They’ve been seen traveling to many places both in their home country and abroad, like the sand dunes in Ilocos Norte and the lively streets of Taipei.

Speaking to Manila Standard Lifestyle, Megan and Mikael explained that being together for years has helped them become more organized when it comes to traveling – figuring out who would handle what and deciding on destinations.

Mikael admitted that in the early stages of their relationship, they were still learning about each other, but as they discovered each other’s interests, they became more comfortable with traveling together.

“And now I think our roles are more defined. More often, Megan is the one who looks for places because that’s what she likes,” said Mikael.

On the other hand, Megan shared that her husband was assigned to booking, highlighting that he would be the one rationalizing whether they would spend too much on a fancy place or a restaurant.

Now, budget airline Cebu Pacific, in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), has appointed Megan and Mikael as its newest ambassadors to bring their travel expertise to explore the Lion City.

When asked about the places and activities they are excited to try in Singapore, the married couple expressed their excitement to experience the unexpected things that Singapore has to offer.

“One of the things that we mentioned was we go to Singapore at least once a year, and every time we go, there’s always a different reason for us to visit. And it’s exciting because I don’t know what to expect. But the unexpected always excites both of us,” said Megan.

“So, usually when we travel to Singapore, it’s either for coffee and we’ll just have like a coffee tour and go around. Two, probably to see friends that we grew up with and catch up on them and their adulting lives. And three, just to experience the food; every time we go, we love exploring,” she continued.

“Like how the locals do, so maybe ask the barista where’s your go-to lunch place or your go-to dinner place, where it’s a spot you would hang out with friends with a special menu, and we like to explore the different corners where the locals go,” added the actress-beauty queen.

On the other hand, Mikael expressed his excitement about trying the cruise as part of STB’s “Fly, Stay, and Cruise” campaign.

“We have never been on a cruise. So, I know that many people have seen our socials, and we do travel a lot. We try to look for various and new experiences. But after 15 years together, we’ve never been on a cruise, and we would love to experience that cruise; that’s what caught my interest,” Mikael stated.

On a serious note, Mikael echoed Megan’s answer in looking forward to what the partnership has in store for them.

“There’s always something more to look forward to when we talk about this and when it comes to travel experiences. Yes, there’s something you can do right now, but next year, the year after that, there’s always going to be something new and innovative. And we’re all here for it and happy to share the experiences with everyone,” he added.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific’s Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer, Candice Iyog, highlighted how STB and CebPac shared the vision of promoting the values that come with traveling in Singapore.

“We love partnering with STB because while Singapore is familiar and easy for us to visit, it’s never boring. It’s quite dynamic as a destination. And that’s a perfect partnership because Cebu Pacific, as an airline, is quite dynamic and always looking for innovative ways to encourage people to travel more. Singapore has so much to offer,” said Candice.

“Cebu Pacific and STB, with Singapore as a destination, share the same goal of wanting to promote values that come with experiencing travel: what you learn and how you grow. In Singapore, STB continues to introduce new innovations and products that make travel worthwhile,” she added.
