Marcos, Manalo to meet with Vatican Secretary for State Relations Archbishop Gallagher

President Marcos and Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo are expected to meet on Tuesday (July 2) with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, according to the Holy See.

A report published late Monday on the Vatican News said Gallagher arrived in Manila on Monday for a five-day visit, highlighted by his participated to the annual post-celebration of “Pope’s Day,” which marked the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul last June 29 at the Apostolic Nunciature in Taft Avenue, Malate.

“On Tuesday 2 July he (Gallagher) will pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., followed by a meeting with the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Enrique Manalo,” the report said.

The visiting archbishop will then travel to Malaybalay, Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao on Wednesday, July 3, to participate in the Plenary Session of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

The next day, he will celebrate a Mass with the bishops in the Abbey of the Transfiguration, a Roman Catholic monastery complex run by the Benedictines, in the province.

Archbishop Gallagher will wrap up his official itinerary with his attendance to a conference at the Foreign Service Institute in Manila, according to the Vatican News.
