Megaworld Corp., the property arm of tycoon Andrew Tan, appointed long-time executive Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso as its new president effective immediately.
Megaworld said in a disclosure to the stock exchange Tuesday its board approved the appointment of Gutierrez-Alfonso as new president in a special meeting on June 25, 2024.
She will take over the post from Tan, 72, who will remain as the chairman of the board of Megaworld.
Prior to her appointment, Gutierrez-Alfonso, 61 years old, was the chief operating officer and a director of the company. She joined the company in 1990.
She serves as a director in numerous affiliate companies including publicly-listed Global-Estate Resorts Inc. and MREIT Inc.
She has extensive experience in real estate and a strong background in finance and marketing.
She previously held the position of senior executive vice president for finance and administration in the company.
Gutierrez-Alfonso graduated cum laude from the Far Eastern University (FEU) in 1984 with the degree of Bachelor of Science major in accounting. She is a certified public accountant by profession.
Andrew Tan has recently allowed his son Kevin Tan to handle the leadership of his holding company Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI).
Kevin Tan, 44, was named president of AGI early this month, in place of long-time executive Kingson Sian.
