The First National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Shelter Cluster Meeting held on Friday aims to approve the member-agencies’ standard operating procedure when responding to hydro meteorological hazards in the country.
Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) Undersecretary for Disaster Response Randy Escolango presided over meeting representing his boss, Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar.
The tackled hazard responses in rains, earthquakes, tsunamis, and terrorism.
During the discussions, the National Housing Authority, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of Public Works and Highways presented how their existing programs can complement the DHSUD’s Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP).
“It was also tackled how DHSUD can lead the formulation of a more comprehensive definition for houses totally and partially damaged by calamities. This shall help align monitoring and evaluation across institutions moving forward,” the DHSUD said.
