Stamp Fairtex’s road to becoming a three-sport World Champion unfolds at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand this Friday, January 10.
The ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion returns to action when she battles Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar in the co-main event of ONE: A NEW TOMORROW, the first show of the year for ONE Championship.
Although the 22-year-old is currently a two-sport queen, she is far from content.“I think I’m improving as a mixed martial artist, in some areas more than others,” Stamp said.
“I feel good in training, but I don’t have enough experience yet. This fight will give me the opportunity to test and develop my skills.”
Stamp has won all three of her mixed martial arts bouts and she looked very impressive in her shutout decision win over Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen at ONE: MASTERS OF FATE last November.
Despite looking in her previous outing, Stamp has no plans of looking past Tomar, who earned a close split decision win over Priscilla Hertati “Thatie” Lumban Gaol at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY last year.
“I never underestimate my opponents. Puja is a wushu champion, so she’ll have good takedowns. She is unpredictable, and she keeps a fast pace and stays active,” Stamp said.
“My opponent knows stand-up is my strong point, and she is probably thinking about taking me down, so I’m working on both my submission and takedown defense.”
With a showdown with longtime ONE Women’s Atomweight queen “Unstoppable” Angela Lee looming, Stamp promises to prove that she deserves that shot.
“This is an important fight for me. Plus, this is an opportunity for me to improve as a mixed martial artist,” Stamp said.
“Angela Lee is the champion. A chance to fight her really is a win-win situation for me.”
Stamp’s road to being an unprecedented three-sport World Champion continues this Friday, 10 January, at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
The prime card starts at 7:30pm PHT. To watch, tune-in to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or download the ONE Super App.
