Battery swap technology provider Gogoro PH eyes prepaid energy plans

Gogoro Philippines, the leader in electric mobility and battery-swapping technology, is making their high-tech rides more accessible through prepaid offerings.

Gogoro Philippines, a partnership between Globe’s 917Ventures Inc., Ayala Corp. and Taiwan’s Gogoro, provides sustainable urban mobility and cutting-edge technology. Since its commercial launch in December 2023, Gogoro focused on the upper socio-economic segment, but said it is expanding its scope given the growing interest from other market segments.

Gogoro said to make its innovative two-wheel batteries-swapping ecosystem more accessible to a wider population, it is looking to introduce new energy plans for the prepaid market without a lockup period. It is also looking at offering more affordable financing options in the second quarter of this year, followed by budget-friendly scooter models in the third quarter.

“We hear you, and we will soon respond to this clamor as we complete the other critical components of the ecosystem,” said Bernie Llamzon, president and chief executive of Gogoro Philippines.

“We’re finding the price to speak for your budget,” he said.

Gogoro is expanding its network of GoStations to ensure that customers can enjoy uninterrupted rides without worrying about running out of battery. GoStations provide convenient and accessible charging solutions through battery-swapping technology.

From just five GoStations at the end of last year, Gogoro has already added nine more within Metro Manila and plans to add another seven before the quarter ends, bringing the total to over 21.

Gogoro is also looking at expanding geographically, targeting specific cities and towns in North and Central Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. This is part of Gogoro’s commitment to making electric mobility accessible to more Filipinos.
