On its 25th year, the prestigious Search for Outstanding Accountancy Students of the Philippines (SOASP) competition, recognized outstanding graduating accounting students from across the Philippines.
Kristina Vistal from the University of San Carlos (USC) won the top prize, with Jericka Mapula and Alexia Guadalupe from USC securing second and third place respectively. About 410 hopeful students from 110 schools nationwide participated in the competition that began in September 2023.
The grand finals, co-organized by P&A Foundation Inc., the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI), was held on March 2024.
The SOASP emphasized not just academic excellence, but also a journey of learning and development. The competition aimed to instill the values of professionalism, agility, gentleness, and trustworthiness – qualities essential for future Certified Public Accountants.
The event was graced by prominent figures from P&A Grant Thornton and inspiring messages from industry leaders, highlighting the importance of this milestone for these promising young accountants.
