Mandaleño Fencing Club young bets find new home

An initial batch of 20 kids learning to fence have found a new place to train and compete with the Mandaleño Fencing Club.

A partnership with Greenfield Development Corporation has brought the club’s young members to a new place near EDSA at Greenfield District.

They can now play and learn the different levels of difficulty in the sport of fencing at a big hall located at the ground floor of the EDSA Pavilion Mall in Mandaluyong City.

“This venue is free of change. Now we have a home,” said Mandaleño Fencing founder Ariel Montinola.

The venue is more spacious than it once was when Montinola put up the club in January last year.

Sparring sessions with the Mandaleno club started as a two-day training each week at Anytime Fitness in Boni Avenue during the early days of the club back in January 2023.

Now, they will be able to conduct training at the new venue at least five times a week.

Montinola, a former fencer at University of the East, was present during the opening of Mandaleño Fencing, with District II councilor Benjamin Abalos III, and Atty. Duane Santos, Executive Vice President of the Greenfield Development Corporation.

“This Greenfield District is a health and wellness district with so many countless activities for sports, fitness and wellness. Fencing is an ideal fit to the whole integral component of the district for health and wellness,” said Santos. Peter Atencio
