United Airlines bares plan to mount more flights to PH

United Airlines is expanding its network across the Pacific region, with a particular focus on the Philippines, according to country manager for sales Pamela Navarro.

Speaking at the sidelines of the Indo-Pacific Business Forum (IPBF) in Taguig City, Navarro said the airline intends to launch more than three daily flights between Manila and Guam, increase service between San Francisco and Manila and introduce a new service connecting Cebu and Narita, Japan by year-end.

United will become the first US airline to connect Cebu in the Philippines with the US mainland via Narita connection, she said.

Overall weekly flight operations to and from the Philippines will jump from the 16 to 23 by year-end, she said.

“These initiatives underscore our dedication to providing convenient travel options and seamless connectivity for our valued passengers in the Philippines and the broader region,” Navarro said, adding that the airline is grateful for the continued support and trust of the flying public.

The airline launched a new daily flight service between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Guam this month. By October 2024, a second daily flight will be added to the Los Angeles to Hong Kong route.

The expanded network is United’s response to the surge in Asia Pacific travel demand witnessed in 2023.

It also introduced additional flights to San Francisco-Brisbane, San Francisco-Christchurch, San Francisco-Hong Kong, San Francisco-Seoul and San Francisco-Taipei.

It earlier launched the first US non-stop flight to the Philippines via San Francisco.

Navarro said the enhancements would strengthen United’s extensive network across the Asia Pacific region, offering passengers greater choice and convenience for their travel needs.
