‘Senior High’ charactersall grown up in ‘High Street’

Fresh off the success of the coming-of-age mystery drama Senior High, which tackled the complexities of teenage life and a central whodunit, the stars are back for High Street.

At the show’s recent press conference and special screening, the cast revealed how their characters have grown. Set five years after graduation, High Street shows the Northford High (a fictional school where all the mystery and drama started) students as they move from the challenges of high school – teenage drama, personal struggles, and everything in between – to the new challenges and mysteries of being young adults.

Andrea Brillantes, who reprises her role as Sky, shared that viewers can expect a more mature and well-rounded version of the once-troubled teen.

“Sky is definitely more considerate now,” Brillantes said. “She’s learned to balance advocating for what’s right with respecting others’ feelings,” Brillantes added that Sky is finally allowing herself to find joy after the trauma of losing her twin sister.

Juan Karlos Labajo, who portrays Gino, describes a character burdened by guilt.

“Gino is determined to make amends for his father’s wrongdoings,” Labajo said.

He also highlighted Gino’s complicated relationship with his struggling mother.

“It’s a reversal of roles,” Labajo explained. “Gino is now the caretaker, and it’s taking a toll on him.” Labajo believes viewers will be inspired by Gino’s choice to pursue a career in law.

Xyriel Manabat, who takes on the role of Roxy, promises a character arc filled with challenges and growth.

“Roxy will face the realities of single motherhood,” Manabat shared. She added that despite the difficulties, Roxy will display immense strength and determination.

Elijah Canlas, who plays Archie, offered a humorous take on his character’s development.

“Starting in prison is bound to mature anyone,” Canlas said in jest expressing excitement to see how Archie would face the world after his release.

Meanwhile, despite presenting an elevated storyline and performance, Brillantes admitted to feeling pressured about High Street following the overwhelming success of Senior High.

“I’m excited but I also have mixed emotions because whenever a show has a sequel, there’s always pressure to make it better or to match the quality of the first one,” said the 21-year-old actress.

Completing the cast are Tommy Alejandrino, Gela Atayde, Mon Confiado, Kean Cipriano, Ana Abad Santos, Gerald Madrid, Inka Magnaye, Angeli Bayani, and Rans Rifol.
