Smart Communications has eliminated the hassle previously associated with changing networks or SIM cards by streamlining the process of switching to eSIM technology.
The telco is now allowing both existing Smart subscribers and non-Smart users to upgrade to a prepaid eSIM while keeping their current mobile numbers.
Smart subscribers can visit any Smart Store nationwide to apply for the upgrade. They simply need to present a valid government ID, their existing physical SIM, and a valid email address where the eSIM QR code will be sent.
After approval and payment, they can scan the QR code using their eSIM-compatible smartphone to activate the new eSIM.
Meanwhile, non-Smart subscribers can switch to Smart Prepaid and upgrade to an eSIM by requesting their Unique Subscriber Code (USC) from their current network provider. They then visit a Smart Store to apply for mobile number portability (MNP). After completing the necessary forms and presenting the required documents, they will receive a temporary Smart SIM to activate their number with Smart. Finally, they will receive their Smart Prepaid eSIM QR code via email.
Upgrading to a Smart Prepaid eSIM offers several advantages. Freeing up the physical SIM slot allows users to have a secondary SIM for travel or other purposes. Some eSIM-compatible smartphones can even hold multiple eSIMs.
eSIM also eliminates the need to physically transfer the SIM card to a new phone. Users can simply remove the eSIM from their old device and scan the QR code on the new one.
With smart, users can upgrade to enjoy data promos like Magic Data and Magic Data+ for no-expiry data, Power All for big data allocation, unlimited TikTok, and various call and text offers.
