2GO Group Inc. on Friday inaugurated its latest addition to its fleet—the MV 2GO Masigla, signifying its commitment to elevating the local sea travel experience and setting a new standard for passenger comfort and service.
First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos led the launch of MV 2GO Masigla which would navigate routes connecting Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan and Manila.
“The MV Masigla represents our common vision for the Philippines where we aspire for more vibrant communities and thriving industries,” said 2GO president and chief executive Frederic DyBuncio.
2GO Group, a part of SM Investments Corp., is the largest point-to-point transportation and logistics provider in the Philippines. It offers multimodal transportation, warehousing and inventory management, special containers, and project logistics as well as e-commerce logistics, including last-mile deliveries and express courier deliveries.
“We continue to invest and become a catalyst towards the realization of this goal and today, reflecting this commitment by providing our passengers with cruise-like amenities that elevate sea travel while remaining affordable for the Filipino,” DyBuncio said.
Will Howell, chief financial officer and treasurer of 2GO, said the company expects to grow faster than the country’s economic growth.
“Typically as a metric, we try to grow maybe two times the GDP. So, that’s kind of just a measure that we look at,” Howell said.
The government expects an economic growth of 6 percent to 7 percent this year.
“We feel that there’s definitely room to grow, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao region. But there are headwinds as well within the geopolitical landscape. So I would say we’re just very cautiously optimistic.,” Howell said.
“We’re looking to invest and really grow the business into 2024, but also lay the foundation for the future of 2GO,” he said.
The launch of the MV Masigla aligns with 2GO’s larger mission to foster greater accessibility and connectivity for passengers and businesses.
