World contender shares spotlight with socmed personalities

Filipino world contender Jonas Sultan will share the spotlight with prominent social media personalities in an upcoming boxing event organized by Junnie Navarro, the owner of the basketball team Zamboanga Valientes.

Sultan, 33, who has twice fallen short in his pursuit of a world title, is determined to bounce back from a recent setback.

In his last bout, he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Riku Masuda in a bantamweight clash held in Japan.

Despite this defeat, Sultan remains undeterred and is poised to face Indonesian Flasidus Nuno for the vacant WBC Asian Bantamweight Championship. The highly anticipated match is tentatively scheduled to take place on June 1 at the Midas Hotel and Casino in Pasay City.

After absorbing Masuda’s devastating left straight to the liver, Sultan’s record now stands at 19 wins, 7 losses, with 11 knockouts.

While Sultan’s fight promises to be electrifying, it is the clash between two social media sensations that has garnered significant attention.

The grudge match pits Snow Badua, a popular sports vlogger, against basketball coach Carlos Fenequito. Their feud, marked by a series of heated exchanges on digital platforms, culminated in a boxing challenge that has captured the imagination of the netizens.

Navarro’s boxing promotional company seized the opportunity to turn this digital rivalry into reality, officially announcing the bout during a press conference held at Taza Manila Café in Paranaque.

Tensions reached a boiling point during the introduction, as Fenequito delivered an unexpected punch to Badua’s chest, sparking chaos as the latter retaliated by throwing the microphone and hit Fenequito in the face.

Amid the chaos, Badua confidently predicted a knockout victory over Fenequito within 20 seconds of the opening bell.

Their highly anticipated showdown has dominated social media discussions in recent days, with both competitors engaging in relentless taunting and trash talk.
