President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged Muslim communities to be “shining examples of humility, peace, and strength in facing adversities” as he extended warm greetings in celebration of Eid’l Fitr on April 10.
In a message, President Marcos emphasized the significance of the occasion, expressing gratitude for the spiritual renewal experienced after a month of prayer, sacrifice, and penance during Ramadan.
President Marcos also offered prayers for the continuous provision of wisdom and fortitude from Allah as efforts persist in promoting harmony, prosperity, and compassion within homes and communities.
“It is also my sincere hope that, despite our diversity in beliefs and philosophies, we will remain united by our shared aspiration for a more progressive and resilient nation moving forward,” President Marcos expressed.
He called for the forging of a society where love triumphs over indifference, faith over doubt and fear, and unity over division and discord.
President Marcos also issued Proclamation No. 514, declaring April 10 as a regular holiday to emphasize the religious and cultural importance of Eid’l Fitr and promote unity and understanding among all Filipinos.
House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Wednesday acknowledged the contributions of the Filipino Muslim community in nation-building on the occasion of Eid’l Fitr.
“As we join in the celebrations of Eid’l Fitr, let us also recognize the diversity that enriches our nation. The Philippines is home to a vibrant Muslim community whose contributions have greatly enriched our great nation,” said Romualdez, the leader of the 309-strong House of Representatives.
“Let us embrace the spirit of inclusivity and understanding, fostering unity and respect for all faiths and beliefs,” he expressed.
Romualdez said he is one with Muslim brothers in celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting, prayer and reflection.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil, also delivered a message in commemorating the end of Ramadan.
“The Philippine National Police (PNP) joins our Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate Eid’l Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast, marking the end of Ramadan,” Marbil said in a statement released on Wednesday, April 10.
“This period of fasting, prayer, and reflection holds great significance for the Muslim community in the Philippines and worldwide,” he added.
He said national police force is also committed to “ensure the safety and security of all Filipinos, deploying significant personnel to areas with Muslim populations to safeguard a smooth conduct of festivities.”
“As we commemorate this sacred occasion, the PNP is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens,” he said.
“Additional personnel have been deployed to areas with significant Muslim populations to ensure the smooth conduct of festivities and provide assistance as needed,” Marbil added.
“We encourage everyone to celebrate Eid Fitr with respect, understanding, and unity, embracing the values of compassion, tolerance, and solidarity. Let us come together to promote harmony and goodwill in society,” Gen. Marbil said.
