Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) said it will launch the new line of its best-selling hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the Toyota Corolla Cross, on April 12, 2024.
Introduced in 2020 as the first hybrid electric crossover, the Corolla Cross has become a popular choice for its stylish exterior, spacious interiors, powerful performance and fuel efficiency as a mainstream hybrid car.
TMP chairman Alfred Ty said hybrid models bring in the crossover experience for users and buyers who are considering to go full electric in the near future.
The new Toyota Corolla Cross variants will be unveiled as an all-hybrid lineup.
TMP said it is stepping up efforts to expand its footprint in electrified mobility by bringing in more hybrid models and pure electric vehicle models.
It launched 1 pure electric vehicle and seven hybrid models—Alphard, Camry, Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Rav 4, Yaris Cross and Zenix.
TY said sales of hybrid units were gaining traction, as more users learned to appreciate the value of mileage with less fuel or zero fuel consumption.
Toyota accounted for 45.85 percent of the Philippine automotive market with 33,070 units sold in February 2024.
It was also the best-selling brand in 2023 with a market share of 46.54 percent and total sales of 200,031 units.
