The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Tuesday that access to their official Facebook page has finally been restored.
“At around 9AM today, 02 April 2024, the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) recovered full access to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)’s official Facebook page,” the statement read.
PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said they coordinated with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Meta to conduct backend operations and assess the security breach.
Balilo added that their public affairs office will perform another hardware check with IT experts from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to strengthen its cybersecurity measures.
Hackers managed to breach the security of the PCG Facebook page last March and began posting malicious contents and images not aligned with the activities of the agency.
