LRMC said this temporary closure  from March 27 (Holy Wednesday) to March 31, 2024 (Easter Sunday) is necessary to conduct the annual preventive maintenance activities, as well as facilitate the mandatory testing activities for the system integration of LRT-1 Cavite Extension.

These tests are crucial to meet the target partial operations of the extension’s Phase 1 in the fourth quarter of 2024.

“The first day of the no-operations period will be dedicated to the train movement simulation from LRT-1 Cavite Extension stations to the existing LRT-1 Gil Puyat Station,”  LRMC Chief Operating Officer Rolando J. Paulino III said.

“For the remaining days, our Engineering Team will conduct the essential maintenance activities to allow us to improve capacity and performance across the line, enabling us to serve our LRT-1 passengers with better, more reliable transport system,” he added.

LRMC assures the public that regular operating hours will be maintained on March 25 and March 26. The last commercial trips on these days will depart at 10:00 PM from LRT-1 Baclaran Station and 10:15 PM from LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. Station.

Normal operations for LRT-1 will resume on April 1 (Monday) at its usual start time of 4:30 AM.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly this Holy Week to minimize inconvenience during the temporary suspension of operations.
